Jessica is a licensed cosmetologist and massage therapist originally from Philadelphia. With a background rooted in both hair and therapeutic work, she brings a thoughtful, personal approach to the chair. She loves creating hair that feels beautiful, wearable, and true to each guest and is excited to continue growing her craft here in Hawai’i.

“Who are you and what brought you to this industry?”

I’m Jessica. Some of my earliest memories are of visiting my family in my grandfathers barbershop. Getting a haircut meant being caredfor. I was always interested in the creativity and culture of doing hair, but I didn’t see myself fitting the bubblyhairstylist archetype that I often encountered. And as a client, hair salons left me feeling anxious and overwhelmed, enough to avoid going to a salon all together. I knew that I couldn’t be the only person who felt this way, and in my late twenties I gave myself permission to pursue hair. I work from my purpose of caring for others and embracing my creativity.

Unfortunately I take forever to reply to a text. For some reason it takes so much brain power from me and I need complete silence to focus. I just do phonecalls if I want to have a conversation.

“If you weren’t doing hair, what would you be doing?”

It’s hard to say because I do alot of things. I like the variety and challenge of doing hair, so anything else would need those aspects. Maybe I could be one of those people who drive around making displayart out of soda cases in grocery stores.

“What is your biggest ick?”

My biggest ick is when people put others down around me. Like what are you trying to achieve?

“What impression do you want to leave on this industry?”

I just want people to feel safe and cared for!

“If you were casted on a reality TV show, which would it be?”

I’d probably be a customer on KitchenNightmares. I love pretending that I’m a foodcritic.

“What, to you, is the most rewarding factor of being in a ‘people’ industry?”

I love the amount that I get to be a partofpeople’slives. There’s so much trust that is granted to us as hairstylists and it’s invaluable to me.

“What do you specialize in?”

I love haircutting. I specialize in cutting hair to bring out texture and look good without styling. I also love corrective color! There’s something so satisfying to me about determining whats possible when I’m presented with a variable canvas.
