‘BETWEEN THE COMBS’ WITH Bobbi Clark

“Who are you and what brought you to this industry?”

My name is Bobbi and ever since I was a little kid, I have loved playing with hair. I braided everything that had strands, I was the bus hairstylist for sporting events, I was always experimenting with my own color and anyone who would let me do theirs. My sophomore or junior year of high school a representative from a local hair school came to talk to us about their school and from that moment on I was set.

“What are your big 3?”

I am a Scorpio sun, a Libra moon and a Taurus ascending

“What are your pronouns and how do you identify?”

She/Her identify as Woman

“What is your toxic trait?”

How do I pick just one? Probably that I don't know how to tell people "no" when they need a favor and I am overworked.

“If you weren’t doing hair, what would you be doing?”

At this point I would say either writing or grief counseling.

“What is your biggest ick?”

Lying/Dishonesty

“What impression do you want to leave on this industry?”

I want every person that sits in my chair to leave feeling valued and seen. I love making hair look and feel amazing but more importantly, I want hairstylists to know that we have the honor and responsibility of shining the light on our client's internal value and beauty. Real, genuine connection.

“If you were casted on a reality TV show, which would it be?”

ooooh, so many to choose from. Maybe Love is Blind-but just to be a part of the drama in the Pods.

“What, to you, is the most rewarding factor of being in a ‘people’ industry?”

I love the connectivity we get to allow people a safe place to come and freely be who they want to be, allowing them to feel as good as we make them look. Confidence comes from within, we just help bring it out.

“What year did you start in the industry?”

I started professionally in 2007, almost 17 years ago.

“What do you specialize in?”

I love the variety but I would say I specialize in blonding and balayage.

“IF you could shadow anyone in the industry for a day, who would you choose and why?”

I know it seems silly, but i grew up watching A Makeover Story and Nick Arrojo was a big reason I wanted to do hair. The show took people who were down and out on the way they presented themselves and he got to be a part of this beautiful transition that allowed them to feel confident and see their own beauty and I knew I wanted to be a part of something like that. So that’s who i would shadow.
